First time in Italy- Looking for suggestions.

Jump to last reply

My wife and I will be heading to Italy in early May. Below is a rough copy of our itinerary.

Day 1- Fly in to Rome/ Check in to hotel/ walk around etc
Day 2- Go to Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Capitoline Hill Museums.
Day 3- Train from Rome to Florence (hoping early in the morning. Check in to hotel/ walk around etc.
Day 4- Accademia Gallery, Uffizi Gallery, Duomo, Ponte vecchio, Plazza Vechio
Day 5- Florence to Pisa (stop and check out tower) then to Cinque Terre.
Day 6- Cinque Terre. (I am open to suggestions on what to do here)
Day 7- Cinque Terre to Milan. Go to the Last Supper painting either this day or next.
Day 8- Milan to Venice. Check out some other things in Milan if we have time.
Day 9- Venice. Plan on walking around
Day 10- Venice. Might head over to Isola di Burano
Day 11- Venice to Rimini. Go look at some cemeteries and places my wife's Grandpa was when he was in the war.
Day 12- Rimini to Naples
Day 13- Naples to Pompeii (for a day trip)
Day 14- Naples to Rome
Day 15- Vatican
Day 16- An extra day to add any where in the trip.
Day 17- Fly out of Rome

We are looking for peoples advice on what to add/remove from our Itinerary. I want to get as much in on our trip as possible while at the same time don't want to be rushed the entire time. I am not sure how realistic some of my travel days are and how long it will actually take. I did use google maps to get an idea but I may be over looking something.

I am also wanting opinions on how much time we should spend in certain cities. My wife would like to spend some time just walking around and checking out local cafes/restaurants/shops and meeting local people. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
