I think you skip the lines with the Friends of the Uffizi also. You can ask once you are in Florence.

The Firenze Card includes transport which isn't all that useful in Florence (the historic center is very compact and walkable). The Firenze Card is also only 72 hours where the Friends of the Uffizi is good until the end of the year (I think it's on a Jan-Dec basis).

Read somewhere friends of Uffizi doesn't help skip queues everywhere. Just got a Firenze card. Used the transport only couple of times as you said. And wifi is impossible to figure out and none of the people at any of the ticket desks seem to know.

Everything I've read says you skip the lines with the Friends card. This compares the two cards. With the Friends card, you can enter a museum multiple times. With the Firenze card, only one entrance.

http://www.florencewebguide.com/florence-card.html

***The best part of having the Amici degli Uffizi card, besides free entry to more than twenty museums, (at the end of this post is a list of all of the museums included in this card) is the ability to skip the line.***

we got the Friends card last year when we were there 5 days, mainly to be able to visit on multiple visits so as to not be exhausted. 100eu for the two of us, seemed worth it and it turned out to be. Here's some info copied about it:

"But best of all, for residents and visitors of Florence, Amici degli Uffizi offers its members a year-long museum card for 60 euro ($80) for individuals, 100 euro ($134) for families (2 to 4 members included in the one price), and 40 euro ($54) for students. Memberships can be purchased online or at the the Amici degli Uffizi Welcome Desk located between Entry Door Nos. 1 and 2 at the Uffizi Gallery.

The best part of having the Amici degli Uffizi card, besides free entry to more than twenty museums, (at the end of this post is a list of all of the museums included in this card) is the ability to skip the line. At the Uffizi and the Accademia visitors wait for hours unless they have the foresight and the extra 4 euro to make a reservation. With the Amici degli Uffizi card you go to the ticket office, show your card and a photo i.d., and you are given a ticket for immediate entry into the museum.

Not to belabor the point, but the Uffizi is a huge museum, mind-numbing in its number of paintings. With the Amici degli Uffizi card you can go in to sit for an hour or so in the Botticelli Room and come back the next day (or after a nice lunch) to enter again with a new free ticket to peruse the Titians and pop by the monolithic Byzantine enthroned madonnas.

In 2010, the Amici degli Uffizi and the Polo Museale Fiorentino, launched a permanent welcome service for the association’s members. “We wanted to create a welcome point for local citizens and visitors equal to those that have been available in the world’s other great museums for some time,” said Maria Vittoria Rimbotti, President of the Association. “This is the first time that an Italian state museum is offering such a service.”

The Welcome Desk is located between entrances #1 and #2 of the Uffizi museum. Its hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Tel. +39 055 213560 and +39 055 284034)

Although the Welcome Desk will be a reference point mainly for Florentines, it is an easy place to purchase your Amici degli Uffizi museum card. Greeted by polite and helpful (attributes frequently hard to find elsewhere in Florence) staff members (who also speak English) you will be able to register and become a member or renew your membership within minutes. (Remember to bring your passport.)"

We had to look around a bit for the Welcome desk mentioned, asking a guard at the door between 1 and 2, and if I remember correctly they found someone to come and help us, once we explained. Just don't let them send you to the other general line!

We went to the Uffizi, as well as the Accademia to see David. several times each.

@nvl325, wow I got some wrong information from couple of websites and card reviews. Anyway no harm done. Probably, the single entry system in Firenzecard made me disciplined, else I have a habit of freewheeling

Thanks to all who've replied to the above question:
"Firenze Card OR Amici Degli Uffizi Card??"
But according to the website for the Amici degli Uffizi,
(http://www.amicidegliuffizi.it/diven...php?pg=8&ln=en)
IT IS ONLY GOOD FOR THE UFFIZI GALLERY! (see below)

"Effective as of June 15, 2015, the Regional Secretary of the former Superintendency of the State Museums of Florence stipulated that our members, holding valid membership and ID cards, are eligible for the free entrance and the priority pass to the Uffizi Gallery only (4 members every 15 minutes, recommended entrance: door no. 2)."

Ouch ... can others confirm that actual practice re the F o Uffizi Card is NOW (after June 15) as described in the website that Nefferdoodle posted?

3 of us are planning roughly 5 days in Florence, manly to see museums, and that will make a big difference for us.

Yes, I can confirm. Just came back from Florence. We had our Friends of Uffizi cards with us, and even though we had purchased them in March, when the rules had not changed yet, we were refused free entrance to any other museum except Uffizi. I was so upset. I went to the office in Uffizzi and complained (I was told to do so by the guys at entrance in Accademia and Pitti Palace, where we were forced to pay for tickets) and they refunded me my money.

That's a bit dirty changing the card mid-year because the Amici card was good for a calendar year. I'm glad you got your money back. I've never found anyone that could really get the value of the Firenze Card as museums in Florence are cheap (6.50€ or so) and most people can't cram enough sites in to 3 days get anywhere close to the 72€ cost. Most don't use any public transport either since Florence is so compact and walkable.

nefferdoodle - The posts you were responding to a year old and rules were different then. Thanks for the info about the changes.

I agree. They should apply the new rules to cards purchased after the new rules were put in place. The woman at Uffizi read a few lines from the website suggesting that the list of museums was subject to change, kind of like a fine print, but she knew that it was unfair, that's why she handed me a 100 euro bill without much arguing.
