Finding the Street Address for the Chateaus

Thanks to all the people who helped me decide to drivein France. I have ordered a Michelin Road atlas 1:200,000. I was trying to plot driving routes on viaMichelin and Mappy website. Unfortunately no book seems to give the Street address and ZIP code/place name of the Chateau's. I was trying to get to Chambord, Cheverny and Chanonceau. Any suggestions on where can I get the street address for these to put into the website or GPS for that matter of fact ?

The French yellow pages are called pagesjaunes. I wonder whether the châteaux even have street addresses?

You ought to be able to pull up the towns where the various châteaux are located and go from there.

They don't have street addresses, except the ones that are right in a town, and those are usually at Placue du Château.

As Underhill says, just plug in the name of the town. Once you get to town, there will be more than adequate signage to the château.

Note the correct spelling of the castle is Chenonceau (the town has an x on the end of it - Chenonceaux).

I agree that when you get within several miles (or even more) of the major chataeus, there will be plenty of signage.

I too wonder if they really do have street addresses.
I'm picturing the mailman driving up to a mailbox at:
1132 Versailles Circle
or
237 Chambord Lane

You can use viamichelin.com and just enter Cheverny, for instance, and France in the country area, and voila, you have the directions, map, whatever....

Speaking of spelling...that should have been Place du Château!

I experienced this same issue when researching the driving routes - the Chateaux do not have street addresses.

I just tried using 'chateau chambord' and the postal code... if that didn't narrow it down, then just the town/postal code. Most websites show the location, so I'd just pair that up with the most detail mappy.com could give me. We saw every chateau we aimed for!

We visited Chenonceau a few years ago on a tour, so don't have tips for that one.

With the exception of Blois all the chateaux we visited were in such small towns that you couldn;t possibly miss them. Just get to the town and follow the signs for the chateau - there is no way yuo can miss them (and I very much doubt if they have addreses).

You will often see the châteaux looming high above the Loire River or the roads that run along its banks. I don't think you'll have any trouble at all finding those enormous buildings.

I second Underhill. Drive into the town and look for the really big building.

yes! that is interesting. I plugged in the name of the Chateau on the webmaps and they broughtout the address. The viamichelin website was more user friendly than mappy in helping me located the PostCode.
