~FILMING IN PROVENCE~
Calling all Peter Mayle fans. New movie coming out to be released 11/10/06...~A Good Year.~ Russell Crowe is the main lead actor in film. Story centers around an Englishman who inherits a vineyard in Provence. When he arrives at new property, he meets an
American woman who claims the land is hers.
Various parts were filmed in Bonnieux, Marsailles, etc. I can hardly wait to see.
Francie.

Sounds like a fun move Francie. I am a Peter Mayle fan. But with the poor quality of movies my local theater has I will probably have to wait and get the DVD via NetFlix. But thanks for the information!!

This one had the whole valley buzzing last year. Most of it was filmed at the Chateau Canorgue near Bonnieux. Also in Gordes and even a bit at our next-door neighbors (now the latest offering from Alain Ducasse and Co.).
A good friend of ours was an extra in a cafe scene and sat at the table right next to Crowe. She was told to look completely flabbergasted by the entrance of two crass American tourists (wearing loud t-shirts, baseball caps and sneakers, naturally). Hoping that part didn't get cut...

Bonjour Diana,
Yes, it seems like we are always at least 2 degrees away from the rich and famous - mais, c'est la vie !
Enjoying a busy season - lavendar is in it's full glory. Have had a number of professional photographers staying to do some shoots. Check out this Santa Fe woman's work - I think it is a pretty amazing process and result:

Well, off to have une petite sieste and then meeting some friends to go kayaking on the Sorgue River. Yes, I know - la belle vie in Provence - anyway, when we have no new guests arriving !!
Hope all is going well in Piedmont - we may be heading your way this fall...

Buongiorno Kevin,
Love her work. Thanks for the link. We have had great luck with lavender...we planted 200 or so,and they exploded just like in Provence, probably because the climate is not all that different. So we have decided to use lavendar as a terracing plant when putting in our vineyards this coming year. Long rows of lavender, long rows of dolcetto grapes, all the way up the hill. I adore the Provence and for me, planting lavender rows adds a touch of it to our farm.
Great news about photographers coming!! More people should know about your haven.
We have had a couple of days off this week as well, a good thing, before the August-October craziness hits...porcini, tartufi, the grape harvest....I just hope that we have no hail when this heat breaks, because the 2006 wines will probably be incredible. Guests start to arrive again tomorrow.
Enjoy your little vacation. We would love to get together with you, either in belle Provence or bella Piemonte!!
