Ferry from Stockholm to: Tallinn, Riga, Helsinki, or Turku?
I'd like to take a boat trip when I'm in Stockholm on Tallink (http://www.tallinksilja.com/en/). Any suggestions on what would be the most rewarding city to go to if I only have about a day to spend there? I'll probably leave in the afternoon, get to the city at night, spend the next day there and leave either that night or the next morning. I'm leaning towards Tallinn for no particular reason.
Thanks,
Nick

I recommend the Silja Symphony or her twin sister Silja Serenade from Stockholm to Helsinki. It's an overnight ride on a magnificent ferry. The buffet dinner is outstanding. Take the second seating for less kids running about, though they are well behaved anyway. The buffet is two hours of unlimited eating and drinking, wine and beer. The entertainment is great in the bar. Take a break on the aft deck for fresh air.
I also took the ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn. It is OK but nothing compared to the Stockholm-Helsinki ferry.

The ships sail overnight, leaving in the late afternoon or early evening and arriving the next morning. There is a daytime sailing to Turku, but it takes all day. If you spend one day at your destination and sail back the next night, there are cruise fares. Meals are normally extra, but well worth the money.
The SILJA SERENADE and 'SYMPHONY on the Helsinki route are superb ships, but the ships on Stockholm-Tallinn are actually newer. All have a range of restaurants and bars with entertainment.

Hi Nick, for comparison you could also check the Viking line ferries, which are also very popular ...
