Ferry from Mykonos to Santorini
Can anyone point me to where I can determine ferry schedules/availability? Maybe I need to use a travel agent (usually I book things myself).
I thought I had our itinerary figured out and booked my hotels in Santorini and Mykonos. Now I'm worried if there will be a ferry on the day that we need. I understand that they don't post ferry schedules until a month or 2 before. According to the preliminary ferry schedule on the following website, there's no ferry on Tuesday, May 15.
http://www.gtp.gr/RoutesResults.asp?...SATATI,11808,8
Our itinerary:
May 10 - Fly from U.S. to Athens
May 11 - Arrive in Athens (flight arrives 5:30 pm), stay overnight
May 12 - Ferry to Mykonos (I also don't know which ferry it will be)****
May 13 - Mykonos
May 14 - Mykonos
May 15 - Ferry from Mykonos to Santorini *****
May 16 - Santorini
May 17 - Santorini
May 18 - Flight from Santorini to Athens
May 19 - Athens
May 20 - Athens
May 21 - Athens
May 22 - Fly to Turkey
Thanks for any advice you can provide.

Yes, there will be a ferry, and probably more than one. You are too early for the May ferry timetables, and it isn't necessary to prebook anyway. You can see the FlyingCat 4 schedule on http://www.ferries.gr/hfd/. Another route, which will get you to Santorini earlier, is SeaJet 2 to Paros and Blue Star from there to Santorini.

Here is another timetable, showing Superjet departing Mykonos at 14:15 and arriving on Santorini (Thira) at 16:40: http://www.seajets.gr/en/index.php?o...d=58&Itemid=23 . That would be my last choice of the three, though.

The best option is the 10am morning ferry from Mykonos to Paros, a 40 minute trip, arriving in time to catch the Blue Star car ferry at noon when it stops on the way to Santorini, arriving there around 3:30pm. This ferry allows you to be outside on the deck when you first enter the caldera at Santorini, a first-time experience everyone should have in their memory book! The highspeed ferries are enclosed and you can't walk around outside.

I agree with brotherleelove! That means only 40 minutes on a small catamaran, which can sometimes be uncomfortable in rough seas. You will have about an hour on Paros, not enough time to explore the town, but long enough to have a drink at one of the cafes along the harbour. You will then board Blue Star Delos, the newest ferry in the Greek fleet. Overall travel time is longer, but you can stand on the outside deck of the Blue Star, getting great views (and photos) when the ferry docks at Naxos and later enters the Santorini caldera. You can buy tickets for both ferries at Mykonos.
