ferry Copenhagen to oslo..and other ???

HI has anyone taken this ferry at night? it seems like a great idea as we would be spending the night in Copenhagen otherwise and having to fly.Hubby worried about rocking and rolling though.

We are also thinking of taking the train from Stockholm to Copenhagen ..or just fly??

Has anyone also stayed at CPH living? it looks fun but we will be there June 1..weather says average 59!! so not sure if we would take advantage of the lovely roof top deck. thanks!!

We took the overnight ferry from Oslo to Copenhagen and it was a truly dreadful experience. This was in September and the open sea that you have to cross can be some of the roughest in the world. The moment we left the Oslo fjord into open water the ferry (yes, 11 stories tall) started to buck and bounce all over the place. The dining room cleared out in about 15 minutes and we had to hold onto the walls to get back to our cabin.

If you have very strong stomachs and are not bothered by rough water - then go for it. But for me - I do get severe motion sickness - flying is a much better choice.

You can get a train from Copenhagen to Oslo (albeit with changes) or even drive if you prefer that to flying.

No-one can guarantee what the weather will be like. For any place in the world. All you can do is look at seasonal average data to get some idea of what's most likely.

I have taken the ferry many times and never encountered bad weather or any motion that would cause sea sickness - of course you can be unlucky and have a rough crossing, but that is definietely not the norm and unlikely in summer. It saves you an hotel night and a day for sightseeing.

Our trip was in the first week of Sept and there was no particular storm or anything - just hideously rough water. The next morning we were told by a ship's officer that this specific crossing is notorious for rough water.
