Ferrari Factory

Whilst we're in Italy, my bf wants to visit the Maranello Factory/Museum.
If you have been there, please let us know about your visit.
Was it worth it? Is Maranello have anything else to see? Is an overnight stay needed if we're in Rome?
Any help is much appreciated. Thank you

It is not a day trip from Rome -- Bologna is the nearest large city.

We were there this past August and did the museum in Maranello. It was a day trip from San Marino and I, especially, enjoyed browsing through looking at the various vehicles. My absolute favorite is the only all wheel drive Ferrari made. Is someone really going to drive it in the snow? Just askin?

It was a very nice way to spend an afternoon. I believe, but I could be incorrect, but the only way anyone can visit the factory is if you own a Ferrari. They have simulators, you can have your picture taken in a race car or a Ferrari California for 18 or 20€. My pic was taken in the California. It is now custom framed and in my family room. A restaurant/cafe is also on sight.

Maranello, although very nice, did not appear to be a place to spend a night.

Buon viaggio,

No way will I ever suggest this to my husband, for fear somehow we would end up with a Ferrari showing up at the house a few weeks after the trip!

They are in the process of taking the company public.

You can buy your SO a single share.

Then every time aFerrari goes by, s/he can say, "I own a piece of that!" More fun than a piece of the Rock.

Sitting in the Ferrari California having my picture taken is as close to ownership I'm likely to experience in this lifetime.

I wouldn't bother with Ferrari as an excursion from Rome, but FWIW we enjoyed the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena more than the museum in Maranello. The EFM is comprised of the old Ferrari family home and a futuristic building next door, and there are, overall, more cars (not all Ferraris) on display than at Maranello.

There is a bus tour that drives through the factory in Maranello, but you can't see much, just the outside of buildings and a glimpse of the test track. No stopping, no getting off the bus, no taking of photos.

There is shuttle bus service connecting the two museums and the Modena train station.
