FCO to Abruzzo

Jump to last reply

Thanks to your help, our trip to Italy has taken shape. 1 week in Abruzzo, 3 nights in Sorrento, 4 nights in Amalfi, 10 nights in Puglia (mainly the Salento) and finally a week in Rome.

Thinking through the details. If all goes as planned, we arrive at FCO around noon on a Thursday. We would like to pick up our rental car at the airport and head straight to Abruzzo since we will have our Rome time later.

Do we have to navigate Rome to get to Bugnara (near Sulmona) or is there a way to bypass headache inducing traffic?

Any suggestions for a route would be appreciated. We have driven in Italy before and have driven in Rome but don't really want to re-live that experience.

Thank you.
