A cape from Capas Sesana in Madrid (great for use with a tuxedo), a mink ushanka (hat) from Russia, sweaters from Estonia and Austria. In general, unique national clothing not available in America, but still wearable.

Wooden horses (for children to sit on) from Russia.
When in paris my favorite gift for myself is a piece of louis vuitton, I avoid the lines by going tot he small shop on RUe BEnoit the staff is great and because of the tax refund and the strong dollar i save anywhere from 25-50% over the louis store at the local mall

In Paris, gourmet food (like vinegar with rose petals) and cooking equipment (like tarte pans in every size imaginable). I also like stationery and office supplies (like those cardboard "boxes" for carrying papers).

CJ,

I alway enjoy buying at least one tapestry while in Paris. Last spring I purchased a lovely wall tapestry but you can always find small sizes. Another nice gift to one's self is a watercolor.
