Far better than bahn.de
It's so frustrating to see Bahn.de offering those 29€ cheap tickets, that never seem to be available.
Today, I've found a page that links to
http://www.spezialtickets.de/
On that page you can search for CHEAP bahn.de tickets. Among other offers, it lists the 29€ offers which actually ARE available and forwards you to bahn.de, so so can make a booking.
Thanks! That's what people need.

Hi ira, make a note of the # of the train and make a booking from or to any stop in between. By browsing the db database, they found out that off all ICE tickets only 11.5% are available at 29€.
Give the excessive number of commercials that promote this 29€ offer, 11.5% seems to be quite a "small number"

I found the site to be of limited usefulness. Unless you are starting in one of the only 16 cities they list as starting points and going to one of the less than 15 destinations, the site is of no use.
I just booked two Dauer-Spezial-Tickets, both for €29, for early November, from Treis-Karden to Braunlage and from there five days later to Karlsruhe. I could certainly not have done that with the subject website. In both cases my first choice was not at €29, but by selecting "Change connection" I was able to find a connection at €29.
I have often noticed that the lowest fares on popular route seem to sell out quickly; they probably don't offer a lot at the lowest price. So their 11% figure is skewed by the fact that they didn't consider all connections, only the popular ones.

Hi logos - Many thanks for that tip.
I did manage to book through de Bahn - the 29euro tickets either late last year or early this 2008 for our May 2008 departure from Paris to Frankfurt airport on the ICE train. It was great but had to change trains which wasn't too awful.
We want to do this again so will go the new route you have posted - thanks again~

>How can I read the fine print on the page?
Try http://babelfish.yahoo.com/
Won't be perfect, but readable.

"post #4" not withstanding, I repeat, I do not find that site to be particularly useful. Although it does prove that there are some €29 available on all of the 45 ICE connections they show, it is only useful for single connection ICE trips. Of the five trains I use on my two Dauer trips, only one is an ICE and it isn't one of the 45 routes they show.
If your only objective is to get from point A to point B (and pts A & B lie on one of the 45 routes) for €29, and you don't care what day or time, it does work, but if, like most of us, you have want to travel on a specific day, you probably need the bahn website.
When I was ticketing my two November trips, I had specific days I wanted to travel between specific points, only one of which was on their list. After I input the information, it came back with all the connections and showed which ones "might" have the €29 fare. I clicked "Show availability" for one, and it came back that the €29 fare was no longer available, but €39 was. I selected "change connections" and it came back showing the lowest fare still available on each connection. I could do that on the Bahn, but not on specialtickets.
