Family Trip starting in Germany

Hello fellow Fodorites. My family is taking a trip to Germany in September for the Oldenburg Film Festival. After that, we would like to take an 8 day trip. Amsterdam is definitely one of the stops. Any other suggestions? Copenhagen? Perhaps the following itinerary:
Oldenburg - Hamburg - Copenhagen - Amsterdam. Any advice would be much appreciated. (Seven people age group 35-76)

In Hamburg, if there are kids in your group or adults who still love miniature model trains and towns, be sure to include a visit to the Miniature Wunderland exhibit.

Ouside of Copenhagen, in Humblebeek, is the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. Aside from its great exhibits, the location overlooking a Bay, is fabulous. There is a very pleasant restaurant for lunch.

Check: http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louisiana_Museum_of_Modern_Art.

The Louisiana in the name has nothing to do with the State of Louisiana, but was the name of the founders wife.

If you have the chance, you really should visit Garmisch-Partenkitchen, in Germany. You won't regret it. It was truly my favorite spot to visit, when we lived there. Outside of Germany, I agree that Amsterdam is definitely a must. Have fun!

Thanks for the suggestions. Lisa, Garmisch-Partenkitchen sounds wonderful, but we are not heading South in Germany. Any other suggestions? Particularly for Copenhagen.

I see. Well, I've heard good things about the area called New Harbor, or Nyhavn. People say they took a boat trip tour, and it was absolutely amazing.
