I am considering planning a vacation to Italy in August for my family of 5 - me, Dh and children ages, 19, 17 and 10. Great food, great scenery and some bicycle touring are on our wish list. I think we would be most comfortable going with a tour company rather than trying to work it all out ourselves. Does anyone out there have recommendations for tour companies that may cater to families?

Try Intrepid Travel's family trip to Italy. However, it will probably be more expensive than doing it independently.
I've taken a different Intrepid tour to Italy and really enjoyed it.
Also, with kids that age you could possibly consider the non-family-oriented Intrepid trips as there are often young people on them. Whatever you do, I'd avoid any tour which involves spending a lot of time on a bus!

Try to choose a location and find an agriturismo because very often they organise excursion and tour in bycicles. Prices are very interesting.
