Hello All! I'm new to fodors, but not new to travel. What a great community you guys have here!!! I'm planning a 7-night trip in September to Belgium and the netherlands. Definitely want to do 2 nights in Brugge, 1 night in Brussels, and 1 night in Amsterdam on the last night of the trip. That leaves 3 more nights. What do you suggest that would make sense logistically?

If it were me, I'd definitely add more time in Amsterdam. One night (with the part day before?) is simply not enough to even scratch the surface. I'd do 3 nights in Brugge and 4 nights in Amsterdam, or if you're really set on spending the night in Brussels, 3 nights Brugge, 1 night Brussels, 3 nights Amsterdam.
I'd take topcat's suggestion for the 3 nights in Amsterdam. You can easily make daytrips to other cities from there. 3 nights in Brugge would be a bit much for my taste. Maybe 2 nights Brugge, 2 nights Brussels?
I would also add more nights to Amsterdam. 3 nights in Brugge would be too much for me too; its not a big town. Perhaps add a daytrip to Antwerp or Gent while you're in Belgium?
Hi HazedandConfused. I have never visited any of the places but had a family member who did these exact cities this last January as their partime band had gigs in each place.
They had a wonderful time but he said he wished he had been able to stay in Amsterdam for more than the 2 days and 1 night that they had there. He said Amsterdam was a fantastic city but that he didn't feel like he really got to enjoy it as he would of liked to because of the short stay. He hopes to take his family to Amsterdam for a week in the future. Unfortunatly I have only been at the airport. So perhaps you should think of using your extra days to enjoy Amsterdam and the surronding area. Best wishes.
