Has anyone visited these villages between Christmas/New years? How much time would you spend, and would you advise spending a night in either one? We'll be on the road or rails between southern France and Italian riviera that week. thanks.

Samantha Brown recently did a Travel Channel production with a visit to Eze.

She said that there were only 15 or so permanent residents during the winter months.

BRR:

I stayed two nights in Hotel le St Paul hotel in December, two years ago. Absolutely loved the hotel (great restaurant) and town and it proved and excellent lactation to explore the area. Although the town is overrun with tourists during the season, it was very quiet during December.

BTW, the weather was wonderful – sunny and in the low 60s, but the days are very short, so plan your time well.

I enjoyed seeing the area in off-season and returned again in January for another visit (stayed in Menton – nice, but a it too far along the coast).
