Extraordinary occasion - which Michelin star restaurant?
I don't have a list - or a country.
Wedding anniversary plus child turning 21. 2017 so booking ahead is possible.
Where would you go and why.

You tagged Spain and the UK but if you don't have a country may I suggest Paul Bocuse in Lyon. It was the meal and experience of a lifetime for us.

Noma because it was amazing and different and I love Copenhagen.
Marianne in London (not starred) because it is my favourite restaurant in London. I prefer it to the Ledbury (which is a close second).
Tickets in Barcelona because it was fun, affordable and delish.

Go to San Sebastián or Bilbao in the Basque country, Europe's culinary heartland. 40 Michelin star restaurants in a small area, three 3 Michelin star restaurants in San Sebastián alone:

Are you limiting your search to Michelin 3 stars, or to any Michelin-starred restaurant?
Do you know about the other food guides that allot the equivalent of stars to what they deem as the best restaurants in their country? (Gambero Rosso, Repsol guide, etc)
I ask because there are some people who do not believe that Michelin carries as much relevance in Italy, or in the US, as it does in France and perhaps Japan and Scandinavia.
I do agree with Kimhe that the Basque country is heaven for the food-obsessed. And other regions of Spain are vastly underrated as food meccas.

Agree that the Repsol guide is an excellent guide to restaurants in Portugal and Spain. 51 restaurants with Repsol suns in the Basque Country. Eight with three suns, the usual top six as well as Nerua and Zuberoa. http://www.guiarepsol.com/en/about-t...s/index-en.php

I always go to Urola on my first night in town, and this is the kind of place locals take vistors to show what the San Sebastián food culture is all about. We were in Paris last month from April 17-24. During that time we had a fantastic 3 1/2 hour lunch at Le Grand Vefour in the Palais Royale. The food was delicious, the service impeccable and the dining room one of the most beautiful we have ever been in. The restaurant has been there since the 1700's. We sat at Napoleon and Josephine's table. Two other recommendations in Paris: Le Cinq and Guy Savoy. We ranked Le Cinq as the most beautiful restaurant we have ever dined in until it was surpassed by Vefour. The best meal we have ever had was at Guy Savoy.
