I am looking for the best way to get from Athens, Greece to Varna and back. I originally planned to take a train and built in an overnight to get to Varna and unwittingly built in 2 overnights on the way back.
I would still like to try the train but have not found enough details to be completely comfortable with that decision.
Also, with the extra day on the way out I might have time to get to a place in Italy and head back on train or plane to Athens from there.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
extra 2 days between Varna, Bulgaria and Athens Greece

So far I'm thinking a plane from Athens to Sofia and back, and taking the train or bus from there to Varna. Maybe I'll just stay the extra night in Sofia instead of trying anything fancy.
Cheaper option is to go to a bus
