Hi all,

I'm going to traveling through Europe this summer and was hoping to make my way from Lisbon through Evora and then over into southern Spain, most likely Seville. However, when looking at the train schedules and maps, it does not appear there is an easy or direct way to get from Evora to Seville.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I guess one idea is going back to Lisbon and taking a train to Madrid first. We plan to visit Seville, Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona and it would just seem more logical to visit in that order.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.

I have the same question - we are going to be in Seville, and want to get to Evora for a day and night before heading to Lisbon. I notice no one answered your post - what did you end up doing? Does anyone have any suggestions? Car seems like bad idea because of the comments about the drop charges.

I wold think the trip would be much ore enjoyable be car - gives you the chance to stop other places on the way. (We have never been charged a drop charge picking up in Lisbon and dropping in Madrid - because they usually have Spanish cars that want taken back.)

Yes, I agree, we would want to drive if feasible. All the previous comments about drop charges scared me. I should just car rental companies and ask. What car rental agency do you use?

There are 2 bus companies that operate between the Algarve (Lagos, Albufeira & Faro) and Sevilla. DAMAS SA is the Spanish Company that has more frequent service on the Huelva-Sevilla route.

I can't remember the Portuguese Bus company's name except that it has 'Bus' in it.

Based on a different thread, I looked up Eurolines and they seem to have bus service from Seville to Lisbon, though it was all in Spanish. I shall have my bi-lingual daughter translate for me, but this is probably what we will do. Do you have experience with them? I looked up rental car costs, and they are pretty steep. Thanks for the advice.

I have taken the Eurolines bus (Viajes Julia) Sevilla-Lisbon. It's a hard 9 or 10-hour ride - the thing that made it worthwhile was the last half hour: passing Almada (Cristo Rei) & crossing the 25 April Bridge with a birds eye view of Belem. Now they cross the Tagus on the Vasco da Gama Bridge and terminate at Oriente multimodal Transportation Center.

There was one stop for a meal, smoke, or to stretch one's legs, or whatever and another at an old border crossing where people used to change pesetas for Escudos or vv.

Most of the scenery in Extremadura and eastern Portugal: Cork Oak & Oliveiras. I wouldn't want to do that trip again!

I agree with megdean advising Eurolines. According to their site I believe that Eurolines (http://www.eurolines.es/) has direct buses Evora/Seville.
The cost is 31 euros and the duration is 5:45 hours.
Evora to Seville by train would be a nightmare.

Monday to Wednesday - all year round.
Thursday and Friday - from 1st October to 31st May.
Go to their site, click "lineas internacionales", then "portugal", download the PDF, print page 5 et voilá.
Departure: 11:15 (Portuguese time)
Arrival: 18:00 (Spanish time)
There are several reductions: 0 to 3 years old, 4 to 12, 13 to 26 and more than 60.
Check in opens 45 and closes 15 minutes before departure time.
Allowed luggage: 25 kg more 1 hand bag.
No devolution of money in case of stolen or lost tickets. Charge for date change is 6 euros.
