Ever used Venere.com to book hotel?

Has anyone ever used Venere.com to book hotels in Italy? Are they reliable? If you have used them, how do they compare to Expedia? Thanks

Lots of folks here have used venere, including me, more than once.

I've never had a problem. (However, I do always confirm directly with the hotel as well.)

Like the fact that you pay nothing up front; just the hotel itself at check-out time.

I also really like the reviews on their site.

I have also used venere.com to book hotels (in Italy and elsewhere) and had no problems. Be aware that some hotels will give you a better rate by contacting them directly (and possibly paying in cash.)

I used them last year. No problems just be sure you also confirm with hotel which I do as double check.

Yes. But, shop the rates and confirm reservation directly with hotel. Best is to e-mail hotel, so you'll have an e-mail response.

I love Venere, have used them for my last two trips and so far have been very pleased.

Do a search on this site for Venere discount codes. I know there's a thread where people have posted some codes that will give you instantaneous discounts - 4 percent? Or something like that.

How do they compare to Expedia? Well, for my April trip, I needed four hotels. To get the best price, I booked two through Venere, one through Expedia (one of their super-duper specials) and one directly through the hotel.

Happy travels!

4% discount code you enter while booking: A8FBZEH

I also check with the hotel directly and their rate is often 5% lower than the venere rate, anyway. In my experience, it's easier to cancel reservations without penalty on venere while expedia almost always has some kind of cancellation fee.

Many people also like that you can search for a quad room on venere, or something like that.

They cheated me out of 9 euros. The price that was on the screen when I went to reserve a room was not the price they charged my credit card. I contacted them about this and they said, "Tough". Beware....

Not disputing that you were overcharged, but I've never actually paid Venere - the hotels bill my credit card upon checkout. Venere only has my number to hold the reservation.

How did Venere charge your card? Was there some special pay-up-front promotion or something?
