Evening transfer from Capri to Sorrento

We are staying in Sorrento and would like to have dinner on Capri one night. We will be there at the end of June in case it matters. I asked our hotel about a water taxi and they quoted me a few options but they were in the 600Euro range. We will be taking a public hydrofoil over to Capri but I know It doesn't run very late. Are there any economical option for doing this or,, no? Thanks in advance.

I have seen online quotes around €400. I have not used them.
There are other considerations, however.
It is around 8 miles of mostly open sea. You might like doing this on a small boat under certain conditions.
Also think about this: even at €400, it would be cheaper to keep your accommodation in Sorrento, double book stay in Capri, take next morning ferry back, and still come under the water taxi price. Depending on your accommodation, you might even check out of Sorrento, leave most luggage there, take overnight stuff to Capri, and return to Sorrento and recheck-in.

Good advice from Greg. They have been very short, but I have seen some wind and rain between Sorrento and Capri that left passengers queasy. Not likely in June, but still would be nicer to stay over and not worry about it at all. Besides, much nicer to be on Capri at night.
Where are you going after that? If departing the AC, you could spend the last night on Capri and go by ferry to Naples the next morning.

Okay then. I thought there would be water taxi's similar to what they have in Venice (along with price) but, apparently not. For us it's cost prohibitive just to have dinner. Thanks for the ideas but, I don't think it's not worth it to pack everything up, check-out and in at another hotel just for one night. There's lots of great restaurants on the A/C so we'll just choose one and keep it simple.

Thanks!
