Eurorail Pass- Train Reservations

Can anyone recommend a website or a way to make reservations for some of the overnight or highspeed trains from Paris to Itay and Italy to Germany? We are new to this and have finally figured out the time table and know they are needed. Thanks in advance.

It's cheaper to pay for an overseas call to get a reservation at a reasonable price than it is to make the reservation through an agency like Rail Europe or Euraide because their prices are inflated.

For Paris-Italy, call the SNCF English-speaking number. If you live in the US, dail 011 (US & Canada international access code) + 33 (country code for France) + 8 92 35 35 39. If you get an automated response, press 2 and you should be connected to someone who speaks English.

Ask the SNCF agent to make your Italy-Germany reservation, too. If that's not possible, then call either Deutsche Bahn Italia (011 + 39 + 02/67 47 95 78) or the central Deutsche Bahn number in Germany (011 + 49 + 1805 - 996633).

Hi sg,

If you have not already bought a railpass, enter your itinerary at www.railsaver.com and click "only if it saves money".

Paris to Milan is only 45E pp. 2 people in a 1 cl dbl sleeper is 230E.

See www.sncf.com

Milan to Munich is only about 110E pp.

The reason I asked about the Cisalpino is because there are no high speed trains from Italy to Germany...the Cisalpino would get you there but through Switzerland. The other route that comes to mind is Rome (or Milan) etc., through Verona and that is not high speed service.

You could use the www.trenitalia.com website for Italy to Germany or the www.voyages-sncf.com site for Paris to Italy.

Depending on when you are traveling and how far in advance you will BE in any of these countries PRIOR to actual rail travel you could possibly wait until you get there to book reservations.

It would be <b>helpful</b> if you gave us more details about that aspect of things.

If you take a more ordinary day route Italy-Germany you might very well wait until you get to Italy to make those reservations and save money doing so, even if you are traveling on passes.

Night trains between Italy and Munich can be booked on the Nachtzug Reise website, https://buchung.nachtzugreise.de. The website displays in English if you click the British flag. You can book full fare tickets with accommodations, reservations (accommodations only) with a railpass, or promotional SparNight fares (if available, quantity limited) for little more than a reservation alone.

You can use a credit card and print the ticket at home.

Book early. These night trains over Brenner Pass are very popular and sell out long in advance.

Note: Rail Europe sells neither complete tickets nor reservations for most if not all of these trains.
