#3 ha'penny bridge--called this because that was the toll charged to walk over the bridge.

Lizzie beat me to 4 and 9, thus my pathetic contribution, which might not even be correct.

Brilliant!! Thanks Tom and Percy. I had no idea. A few trivia about the subject:
- John the 1st was the son in law of John of Gaunt, the 1st duke of Lancaster. He got married with Philippa on Lancaster. They produced both an offspring that Camoes called later the "distinguished generation" because neither before or later a group of brothers and sisters produced such a positive impact in the country. Philippa, although of a low profile as required by the time, should have been a lady of exceptional worth. Out of her children, the most known is Prince Henry the Navigator.

IMO John O'Gaunt is given one of the best speeches in Shakespeare so I've always been fond of him, though I suspect that IRL he was a real bastard.

Thanks lobo_mau.
I read lots on Henry and could pose some questions.
Prince Henry never sailed.....he did plot courses for others . See that would have been a good question.

Also in Portugal his nickname is not used much...but rather Henry Infante D.

I hope you have been to Matalha Monastery to see his Tomb.

I think Philippa was a daughter of some King of England. (not sure).

HINT#8....Think of a Ukrainian Grandmother.

Got to go I am on the cell at a Mall....have to pick up Alexis from school.
It is 2Pm now.....so about 10 pm in Europe.
(soon zzzzzz for you guys !)
