Hello Everyone,
I am getting married at the end of November this year in Sydney Australia and I am trying to plan my European honeymoon and thought I would ask for all and any opinions or advice you may have. I have never been to Europe but I have friends that have been there and I have seen photos and it looks wonderful. At the moment, this is what we have planned:
1- Paris for 6 nights
2- Munich for 3 nights
3- Prague for 3 nights
4- Vienna for 3 nights
5- Somewhere in Switzerland for 3 nights
6- 9 nights in Italy including (possibly) Venice, Florence and Rome
We really have chosen these based on opinions and internet research but I would prefer to get your advice as people who have been there and done that. My fiance and I both love winter and snow and the Christmas atmosphere (thus Vienna was chosen for the Christmas markets). Could anyone provide advice on the places we are visiting considering it will be mainly in December we are travelling? Or any advice on if we should or shouldn't go to any of the cities mentioned or any other recommended cities would be great. Any opinions or advice would be highly appreciated. Sounds good to me! I think you are lucky to have enough time to do such a nice length, I would hate to do all those places in 2 weeks like many have to, but I think you have alloted most of the time well.. you are going to have to narrow down "Switzerland " a bit, ( and remember it will be most expensive of all the countries on your list) but it does look like a decent sampling of Europe( to me anyways , based on my personal tastes.. some will have different).
I have to say, Paris is one of my favorite cities and I am big on wine, cheese, and museums , but for some they will have other priorities. I do think since it is december you should have some lists or ideas of indoor sites you wish to see, since you will encounter some cold wet weather for sure at some point. ( ps, many outdoor cafes in Paris have awnings and heaters so you can people watch all year round!)

Be sure to purchase open-jaw tickets (into Paris, out of Rome) so there's no need to backtrack.
Oh yes, StCirq is right, and when pricing that remember its "multi destination" or "open jaw" not two one way tickets( which would be more expensive)..

I agree we will need to narrow down Switzerland, so if anyone has visited somewhere nice and romantic we would be open to any suggestions. One thing that I found which I think sounds good is: http://www.myswitzerland.com/en/an-arc-of-lights-in-the-winter-forest.html but I really have no idea if the area this is in is ideal. These are the reasons we have chosen the cities:
Paris: We have heard that Paris is definitely one of the best, which is why we allocated 6 nights. We are hoping to possibly visit Disneyland as well? Not to mention some shopping
Munich: We really don't know what to expect from Munich, but a friend recommended it saying that it has a warm and cosy feeling during December.
Prague: Friends have told us that this is probably the most beautiful city in Europe (+Christmas markets)
Vienna: Christmas markets and also Austria has a reputation of being stunning
Switzerland: To be honest the reason we are going here is to visit the Swiss Alps that everyone talks about and to embarrass ourselves with some amateurish skiing
Italy:
Venice: We have heard that this place is magical in December, but we have also heard that we might have trouble with access due to flooding? Does anyone have any experience with Venice in December?
Florence: My fiance says it is beautiful
Rome: Visit all the Churches and Vatican etc.
