Europe by Air

I just bought some travel vouchers from Europe by Air to travel from CDG to DBV and from ZAG back to CDG. I'm wondering whether I made a huge mistake and would like some advice as to how to turn these vouchers into actual tickets on Croatian Air. I think I have reservations on certain flights but would feel more comfortable if I knew this for a fact. Could you please help me out?

They have a toll-free telephone number, if you live in the US:

http://www.europebyair.com/efp/disco...reineurope.jsp

Mail: 16654 Soledad Canyon Rd., 123, Canyon Country, CA 91387
Telephone: 888-321-4737

I would call and talk to them directly. There are no reports of them swindling their customers, ever, here on this forum, as far as I know.

Best wishes,

Rex

Hi I,

Good advice from Rex.

There was, I think, one report by someone who had difficulty, but it was because they hadn't spoken to the Europebyair people and assumed that their voucher was a ticket.

Okay, this is why I'm confused. Below is the answer verbatim from Europe by Air. Since my flight is on Croatian Air, should I call them directly to verify? The line about that they "might" accept credit cards for the taxes floors me too? What do you think? I don't get the impression that they're scammers but I'd rather do the legwork while I have the time than scramble around at the airport.

"Your FlightPass tickets are actual tickets.

When you made the reservation, you selected certain flights, dates, etc.
An itinerary should be included with your tickets. You should also have a list of airline phone numbers.

Approximately 24 - 48 hours prior to your flight you should reconfirm your flight directly with that airline. The purpose of reconfirming your flight is to verify flight times. Occasionally airlines have schedule changes and forget to notify us. If they do not notify us, we cannot notify you. When you reconfirm shortly before departure, you then become aware of any
unadvised schedule changes.

Every airline, every airport has slightly different procedures. Basically, you will arrive at the airport for your flight. You will pay taxes directly to the airline. Usually you can pay in local currency. Many airlines will accept credit cards. They will accept your tickets.

If you wish to change your flight, contact the airline PRIOR to your
scheduled departure. Pending availability, you can change for no fee."

Hi I,

You must simply pay the tax portion of the ticket at the airport. That airline may require payment in the form of local currency and not credit card. This is simply the way europe by air operates.

There have been several people that have used Europe by Air on this forum. I know that Barb used them for her trip to Croatia back in October, and later posted about her experience. If you do a search for "barb" you should be able to find her trip report.

Overall I don't recall too many complaints other than the taxes being pretty high at times.

Good luck!

Actually I just found her trip report and she really doesn't mention it, but she does respond on this thread: http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessa...t=0&searchText.

As I mentioned above, I do recall several others doing it as well so I would try a search.

Hi int,

Absolutely

>The line about that they "might" accept credit cards for the taxes floors me too?

It is conceivable that the airline will only accept cash.

Find out how much the taxes will be and get some cash from an ATM at CDG. If you will be in France beforehand, you will already have Euros.

I used the Europe by Air vouchers in September to fly Split-Zagreb and then Zag-Heathrow. Both flights were booked on Crotian Air and I was given a confirmation number that I could use on the Croatia Air website to monitor the status. Croatia Air contacted me directly to advise me of a schedule change that they made. Before I left the US I sent an e-mail to Croatia Air to confirm what the taxes etc would be. As I recall, it was about $75 total for the two legs. The voucher you receive is NOT a ticket. When you arrive at the airport you go to the Croatia Air service counter and pay the taxes and they endorse the voucher which you then give to the agent to get your boarding pass. My experience was excellent and I would use them again without hesitation.

I agree with jeff. We used them in October from Madrid to Lisbon, Lisbon to Malaga and had no problems. We would use them again as well.

We used them for Athens/Paris a few years ago and it went quite well. Would also use them again if the need arose.

I had absolutely no problem with Europebyair. In fact, it went much smoother than I had anticipated. At CDG the counter where I had to pay the airport tax was at the Lufthansa sales desk and directly across from where I needed to check in. Very easy. I used my cc there to pay for the tax. Returning from Dubrovnik to Rome, again it was a very easy process as the airport there is small and easy to navigate. They did not accept cc there for the tax and I did not have enough Kuna, so I had to use a nearby cash machine, again, very easy. I will definitely be using them in the future, maybe this fall.

Forgot to add that I did check my flight to Dubrovnik at the hotel in Paris the night before. I tried to do it myself on the computer in the lobby, but ended up asking the desk clerk to do it for me as I was having trouble with their computer. I had my printed out itinerary with me with airline phone numbers on it. I also had the hotel in Trogir confirm my flight to Rome.

To others reading this - just make sure that europe by air - with the taxes you have to pay - is really your cheapest option. Or if you want flexibility with your travel europe by air is easy to change reservations. To internetwiz - we used for rome/dubrovnik and zagreb/zurich (inbetween zagreb/dubrovnik we purchased oneway thru croatia airlines for about the equivalent of $27. When you are in the larger airports (like for us in rome) not everyone knows what kind of service desk you are looking for to pay the taxes and get the tickets. In rome i had to stand in line for awhile and it took forever for the clerk to craete the tickets it was never racking but actually not a problem at all. In between flights in zagreb it was very easy. Both places took credit cards. Croatia Air from rome was a beautiful flight and plane and service. Also I emailed croatia air ahead of time and asked for particular seat assignments which I got. You are fine with this service.

Sorry, not sure where in Rome you go, I was coming from Dubrovnik to Rome. If you go to the ticket counter they will either help you, or direct you where to go. Do not go to check-in before you pay the taxes. If it helps at all, I believe it is a Star Alliance partner. Going from Paris to Dubrovnik, I was directed to the Lufthansa desk.

I just saw this thread today and it was quite reassuring to me since I booked my London to Amsterdam flight in July through them. Does anyone have any idea whether VLM will take a cc for the taxes or if I'll need GBP? Any idea how much the taxes might be for a London to Amsterdam flight with the new taxes?

P.S. I know EasyJet would have been cheaper, but our hotel is 3 miles from London City airport and we got a more favorable flight time from there as well. I don't want to be at the airport before 4AM for a flight that is connecting to a long series of flights back home.

Kellye:
I would suggest that you contact the airline. They should be able to tell what the charge will be, the currency and whether they will take a cc.

I have travel vouchers also on Europe by Air. We intend to use them CDG to ZAG. As we will be coming from the U.S., will we have to go out to the front of the airport to find a Croatia office to pay the taxes and get our ticket issued? Does anyone know where it is in CDG?
