Euro Quiz # 55 - OMG - Pilgrimage Sites, Shrines, Etc.!

Jump to last reply

Holy shrines and pilgrimage sites have always fascinated me - today's quiz is all about pilgrimage places, shrines, etc.

1- There are at least three types of holy shrines - Name at least three diferent kinds of things that attract the faithful there?

2- Assisi is famous for which Saint that talked to birds and animals in his garden, just outside of Assisi - who is he but who is another revered Assisi Saint who has her own shrine and devotees that flock here on pilgrimages?

3- The faithful flock to the Saint Gildard Convent in this French city to pay homage to a Catholic Saint who spent her last nine years of life here- they come to see, in the word's of a Catholic web site, "the incorrupt body" of who?

4- This thriving medieval pilgrimage site and still popular with pilgrims today is built into a cliff in southern-central France - the shrine and religious buildings built going up the cliff is said to be the 2nd most visited place in France outside of Paris (after Mont-Saint-Michel).

5- If you went to Stables Market in London what young British female atar who died a tragic death, could you pay homage to at the foot of her statue? the statue was put here in part because she lived nearby?

Exactly what purported famous holy relics, some discredited, are located at the following places of pilgrimage palce thata attracted swarms of faithful now and or in the past:

6- Chartres Cathedral (not it's NOT Malcolm Miller! though he is an old relic by now!)

7- Vezelay, France?

8- Santiago de Compostella, Spain?

9- Who is the only Saint buried in Westminster Abbey?

10 - An easy day trip from Barcelona goes to nearby XXXX - after trudging up or taking the mountain or hopping the cable car what holy relic could you oogle to in the main church?

May the Lord be with you on this? Winner wins (plus S & H!)

I hope percy will adjudicate this quiz!

Percy will be back with Euro Quiz # 56 tomorrow I hope.
