Euro Quiz # 110 - Potpourri

1- The XXXXXX is the name both of a shallow river in northeastern Italy just south of Ravenna, and the name historically given to a river that was famously crossed by Julius Caesar in 49 BC. While it is not a proven fact, historians generally agree that the two rivers are indeed one and the same; this was not always the case.
The modern-day river runs for about 80 kilometers, from the Apennine Mountains to the Adriatic Sea through the southern Emilia-Romagna region, between the towns of Rimini and Cesena.

What is the name of the river famous in Roman lore? and where generally is it?

2- One of Amsterdam's popular sights is the XXXXXXXXXX church - a church hidden away on the uppermost floor of a building at times when whatever typ eof Christianity was worshipped here was frowned upon by authorities thus they had to hide - name the church?

3- The main street of East Berlin is XXXXXXXX, named for a certain type of tree that lines it - name the street and the tree type lining it?

4- London's XXXXXXXXXX was an entertainment complex near Piccadilly Circus that was originally built in 1896 as a restaurant, and closed in 1965. In 1984 the complex reopened as an exhibition and entertainment space, which operated until 2014. As of 2014, it is under redevelopment to become a hotel. What is the name of this now shuttered entertainment complex - often maligned as being total kitsch?

5- Where in the U.K. can you ride double-decker trams along a seafront?

6- Tivoli, about an hour by train or bus east of Rome is famous for having two stellar sights - one right in town is the XXXXXXXXXX and one a few miles out of town is XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

7- This French regional city is known for its Owl Trail - a marked trail winding thru this town more known for its mustard than wine though in the Burgundy wine area?

8- Scotland has two awesomely scenic railways - what are they called and where do they go?

9- This famous Piazza is a belvedere that overlooks Florence from the other side of the Arno River - what is its name?

10 - London has 8 Royal Parks - how many can you name?

Cheers!

5 is correct and 8 is partially correct - needs the name of the railway.

Where is it stated that Unter den Linden is the main street in East Berlin?

The main street in East Berlin could easily be Friedrichstraße or the Karl Marx Allee.

I should have said 'this main street' - tsk tsk. It was the marquee street of the DDR - coming from the Brandenburg Gate and being lined by embassies, military memorials, Humboldt University etc - A main street if not the most main street. Tsk tsk.

Well, the Friedrichstraße is the High Street of East Berlin, so it can also be called the main street of the area.

I thought the Rubicon was the name of Marco Rubio's presidential platform.

# 2 is the Lord in the Attic church in Amsterdam
# 4 is the Trocadero Centre - a cheesey kitschy place oriented to younger males - was one of Britain's largest entertainment centers with with a potpourri of action areas like a short bowling alley - Foos ball games, video arcades, spook shows, etc. Now being turned into an upscale hotel in a prime location - smack in the middle of the West End.

#8 - the Kyle of Lochlash line

#10- https://www.royalparks.org.uk/
