Estonia with kids?

Hello! We will be in Europe in July for a wedding in the UK, and my family is considering some time in Estonia as well. Can anyone help me with what a trip like that would be like for two boys, ages 8 and 4? I know that the old town is magical, but what are some of the sights/activities for young ones? My two are not theme park kinds of kids - they love animals, short hikes, rock hunting, art projects...that sort of thing.

I'm only at the very earliest stages of planning and don't know whether I should delve further into the Estonia idea or confine our research to other regions. Also, can anyone recommend some day trips (or overnight trips) outside of Tallinn?

Many thanks for any suggestions!

-Mia
