England/Ireland Itinerary 2005

This is what happens when I stay home from school with a bad cold . . . I start obsessing about our trip!

England
Pretty much all set except for accomodations, which we are working on:

5 days London (1 day trip to Oxford, or 1 day trip to Wimbledon if we get tix) and 3 days in the Cotswolds (thinking of Chipping Campden or Broadway as a base).

Ireland---help

We will arrive on the 3rd of July at about 12:00 in Shannon. We are thinking of taking Flybe airlines to Shannon from Birmingham as someone on the board said it is the most convenient airport to the Cotswolds. Is this airline safe? Sounds like a sill question, but I am not a great flyer!

We want to go see the Cliffs and maybe just take a drive b/c we will only have a half a day to tour (maybe the Burren).

We want to go to the Aran Islands the next day, so we will need to stay near the ferry that night. Doolin?

July 4th--Aran Islands--stay again near ferry

July 5th and 6th--Dingle--We need to travel from the Aran Island area to Dingle . . . we will only have a day and a half, since we have to be in Kilarney in the late afternoon on the 6th for the wedding we are attending on the 8th. Should we skip the Aran Islands, or is a day and a half enought time to tour? How long is the drive from the Aran Islands area to Dingle?

Wedding 6th-9th

On the 9th, we need to head out toward Dublin b/c our flight leaves on the 11th. Any suggestions of what to see half of Saturday and all day Sunday? I like castles!

Sorry this is so long. TIA for any help you can offer!

Between Killarney and Dublin you have CAshel and Caher. They both have castles and ancient cathedrals. Chose a route through there, and maybe stay there, or go on to Kilkenny for the night. Then you could swing by Glendaloe and Powerscourt, and around to the north for the airport.

I don't understand taking a day trip to Oxford from London when you are spending 3 days in the Cotswolds?

Oxford id basically on the easter edge of teh Cotswolds -- less than 7 miles from Woodstock, and less than 20 miles from Burford.

You can easily do a walking tour of Oxford and several hours at Blenheim on the same day.

flybe is a standard airline. Not my favorite, but it's a short flight and it's cheap. You'll be find.
