Elevation at Garmish?

My dad is coming to visit us in Sept. We already have reservations at a lodge in Garmish. But my question is, since he feels bad at elevations above 4,500 FEET, what IS the elevation at Garmish in feet? Would he be able to even go up to the castles there? Neuschwanstein ect? Please let me know soon so I can cancel reservations if needed. Thanks

Garmisch-Partenkirchen is at about 700m, so is a good couple thousand feet below your dad's maximum of 4,500 ft. I don't know the exact elevation of the Neuschwanstein area, but I'm sure it's also well below 4,500 ft. Surrounding mountains are quite a bit higher, of course - the Zugspitze is nearly 10,000 ft.

Most folks who go to Garmish use it as a good place to access the high country (Zugspitze). If you are looking for castles you might want to consider Oberammergau (near Linderhoff) or Fussen (near Neuschwanstein) or Bertschesgaden (fairly near HerrenChiemsee). I am pretty sure they are below the 4500 ft level.

Fussen 803 m or about 2,500 ft - Neuschwanstein higher up on a hill but not more than a few hundred feet i'd think.

Thanks everyone for the information. We will be staying at the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort. Has anyone ever been there?
