ekscrunchy - are you out there?

Last month we were posting about what you must ring back from Rome and I mentioned Aperol. You said it was being distributed in NYC. I contacted Skyy Spirits and they said it was being test-marketed in NYC before being sold anywhere else. Can you tell me the name and maybe the street of any place in NY that is carrying it? I'd like to order some just in case they decide not to make it nationwide.

Thanks much. If you want, you can email me directly at [email protected]

Hi Sandy. I heard that it was coming out May 1 in the US. Skyy Spirits is bringing it in, same importer who brings in Campari. If it is indeed distributed here in NYC, it will be listed in the monthy trade guide called Beverage Media. The distrubutor is indeed Southern. BUT so far I have not been able to find it in the Beverage Media book. I will try to get the answer from someone from Southern but cannot do this until after the long weekend. Are you in NYC? If so, you can ask the retailer nearest you to contact his or her salesperson from Southern..that person would know the status of Aperol. I have not seen it on the shelf and am unsure if the launch was delayed. Will report back when I get more info! Now you have me really curious to taste it so will be on the trail!

No, I'm in Dallas. I may have spoken to someone from Southern. The guy at Skyy forwarded my email to the distributor and he called me back. All he told me was that it would be tested in the NYC market first before it went elsewhere. I'm looking at a half-empty bottle that I've been nursing for over a year.....times a-wastin'

Sandi...Aperol IS now available in NYC. It comes in a 6-pack case and the price is about $120 US for the 6-bottle case, plus NYC tax. In order to have it shipped, you have to make sure that alcohol can be shipped to Texas. The shipping would be costly, about $50 per case of 6 bottles, I am told. If you are still interested, I will post more info for you. Hope this helps..I am about to order a bottle for myself!

I'm not ekscrucnhy, and I don't know what an aperol is, but here are links to stores in NY that sells the liqueur:

http://www.mountcarmelwines.com/sku11032.html

http://www.cheers-wineandspirits.com/sku15883.html

http://www.popswine.com/

And incase your home state doesn't have a liquor shipping reciprocity agreement with the state of New York, then here are store in MA and CA that carries them:

http://www.blanchardsliquor.com/sku24154.html

http://www.bevmo.com/productinfo.asp...A99&bhcp=1

Disclaimer: I am not retailer, nor am I affiliated with any of the retailers that I posted. In fact, I don't even know what an aperol is. I am just a wine enthusiast with an online wine-availability tracking software.

I think we're ok. In looking at some of the websites that bill rovided, they have the disclaimer "We cannot ship to the following states: Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah" so I think I'm good for shipping!!

Thanks everyone for helping me track this down.

Sandi...let me know if you need any more help with this; now that I am home from the long weekend I will be able to ask my contacts either in retail or at Southern Wine and Spirits here in NYC. And keep us posted on your progress!

Anyone else in the Dallas area wish to split a 6-bottle case with me? I think La Claire is splitting one with her Mom. Just email me directly at [email protected]
