Eiffel tower tickets

I am trying to pre-purchase Eiffel tower tickets online for early January on their website, and I am unable to.

Is it too early to purchase these online?
We are in Paris for 3 nights and thought it best to pre-purchase so that we are not standing in long queues.

Thanks for all advice in advance.

I went in to the website and saw:

"For visits between January 5th and February 6th, 2015 included, no online sale in advance of top floor tickets. An extra ticket for the top floor may be purchased on the 2nd floor, depending on weather conditions.

In addition, access to the top floor will be closed from January 12th to January 30th included due to work."

I did a dummy booking, selecting the 2nd floor, and the day I picked had just one slot available (the last one at night) along with a calendar on the left showing days that had availability.

So--make sure you click on 2nd floor. Good luck.

If you are staying in a hotel they might be able to secure tickets for you. Email them and ask.

Thanks evecolorado.
I took your advice and was able to get 4 tickets. Unfortunately, the dates in January when we are there the only available times are 22.00.

Is this worth it that late at night during winter? We want to see the Eiffel tower at night as well but wondering whether it is worth going up it at night.

As good weather is not ever guaranteed, I would not recommend your purchasing tickets in advance, particularly for a date in the winter. If you want to avoid lines, show up at 09h00 when the Eiffel Tower opens. Lines will be minimal to non existent in January.

We've gone up in the day and after dark, and both are enjoyable in their own way. During daylight one can pick out sites easily and at night the city lights are magical.

The weather could be nasty every day you are there, and having your tickets already purchased will save you from shivering in even a short line.

Are you staying nearby?

I wouldn't prepurchase for January when the weather has a great chance of being terrible. These last two weeks in Paris, I would say there was only one day out of 14 when I would have wanted to go up the Eiffel Tower if I wanted to see anything.
