I am staying in Edinburgh-- at the Over-Seas House, which is on Princess Street right by the castle. Are there any great places to eat in the neighborhood? I know it's a touristy area, but am hoping there are some inexpensive little spots that you insiders know about. Am not opposed to eating at a pub if need be. Thanks, KAWH

The World End bar on the lower half of the Royal Mile is a favourite of mine and of the many visitors I have taken there,a real old fashioned place, very small so you may have to wait foir a table but great food and the prices are pretty good.
Lots of place to eat in the area and it is used as much by locals as it is by tourists.
There are loads of places from sandwich bars to fine dining resturants ,ehtnic resturants of all sorts ,pizza /pasta places and great pub grub. These links should give you more info.

If you search the very first link I gave you ,you should find lots of good places.
Princes Street is not exactly right by the Castle. Go up to George Street, not towards the Old Town. There are some lovely places over there.
