eating out in ethnic Paris
Was wondering about vietnamese, North African and arabic areas and restaurants to eat in. Also French Provincial in Paris. In Sydney ethnic food is cheap, delicious and authentic. Can you suggest Parisian equivalents?

Paris is not Sydney, so the only "cheap" food you'll find would be in some of the working class neighborhoods where the locals dine. Vietnamese, Moroccan and Middle Eastern cuisine have been a part of the Paris food scene for ages.
For a good selection of restaurants of all kinds in Paris (if you have an iPhone), you'll want to download Patricia Wells' "The Food Lover's Guide to Paris".
For French-Asian cuisine in the 1st, try Yam'Tcha (three month waiting list for dinner) or Gyoza Bar and Naritake in the 2nd.
For Middle Eastern cuisine in the 4th, try L'As Du Fallafel, Liza in the 2nd, Chez Marianne in the 4th and Restaurant Cheminée in the 15th.
For Moroccan cuisine, try Mansouria in the 11th, Le Sirocco in the 13th, Le Timgad in the 17th and L'Atlas in the 5th.
For Vietnamese, you can try Bambou D’or in the 13th, Banh Mi in the 3rd, Chez Duc in the 2nd, and any one of a couple of dozen others around Paris.

For specialities of Southwest France, Chez Papa (locations around Paris) is an excellent economical option.
Belleville is definitely a major center for both Southeast Asian and Maghrebi fare. However, Chinatown in the 13th arrondissement will have an astounding choice of places, being the largest Chintatown in Europe.
