Eating at Le Comptoir (guests of the hotel) in Paris

My Fiance and I are staying at Relais Saint-Germain for our honeymoon next april, and I have heard that Le Comptoir is pretty fabulous. Do we need to make reservations before we arrive, or will we be given priority as hotel guests and not have to worry about that?

Also, does anyone have an idea of the menu or prices?
Thanks!!

Hi Krusty,

Ira is right: guests of the hotel get priority, but you still should make reservations well in advance. When we stayed at the hotel recently we didn't reserve very far ahead for our early spring stay, but they fit us in at an outside table with blankets and heaters. It worked out fine, but we might have preferred being indoors.

We love that hotel, and the restaurant. Enjoy!

Hmm, a quick search on booking.com and it's close to 300 Euro a night for a double?

The breakfasts are fantastic as well.

The price has risen to around 300€ from 200€ when I stayed there 3-4 times a year about four years ago. Now out of my price range unless a very special weekend.

I did negotiate a nice discount once w hen booking two rooms for a week by emailing the hotel directly.

I don't remember the restaurant prices being OTT.

Hi everyone, thanks for the responses. We're staying in a deluxe double at 370 Euros a night. splurging a bit because it's our honeymoon.

I'll definitely email the hotel and make a dinner reservation, and I am sure they will be quite accommodating (i booked our hotel last week and requested a certain room, and they gave it to us).

Marcy, how was your experience there? any tips you can give me? We're so excited to go, and this was our favorite hotel out of all the ones we looked at.

yes, the hotel guests do get priority and the food there is great. I could have lived off the saucisson alone. If they have lobster bisque...GET IT! Also, the beef cheeks were wonderful and we still talk about them. it is a little pricey but I don't remember exact prices. The immediate area you will be staying in is great! We love it.

Well, I think we'll only do one dinner there. There is so much to see and do that I am sure we will be fine eating at other places. one of the things that sold us on this hotel was the fabulous breakfast that is included. Do we need to make reservations for lunch too?

Also, we're staying in the "blue" casanova room!!

you may find that with the fabulous breakfast, you don't want/need lunch.

I had a look at the website - very chic, but low on detail like the actual menu. looks a lovely hotel though.

WE had the most wonderful meal there last spring - we popped in right when they opened for dinner service and scored a lovely table outdoors under the heater w/ a blanket. It was so romatic and the food was INCROYABLE! Thatnks for bringing up a lovely memory.

Our experience at Le Comptoir last October wasn't as positive. The highlight of the meal was the cheese platter, although I didn't particularly like having to balance the cheese plates while cutting off a chunk and then passing the cheese to the adjoining table. The rest of the dishes just weren't particularly memorable.

The night we were there the essence of the menu was: assortment of sausages; filet of sea bream with mushrooms; rabbit stew; cheese; and poached pear. The cost was 50 E. If your French isn't good, get a copy of the menu for the day in advance from the hotel and ask them to translate it for you. You'll understand the wait staff better if you know what they're saying!

Enjoy your honeymoon!
