Easyjet in June

We are flying frequent flyer miles into Gatwick next June and need to get down to Barcelona for a week stay.
Right now I can't see the schedule for June 2006. I do see that the airfares go up incredibly in July and August. Does anyone know when the summer high season begins with EASYJET? We are going to be traveling the first 2 weeks in June. If Easyjet is too high in June, perhaps we are better off taking a train to Barcelona. There will be three of us.

Ruth - Easyjet don't have a 'high' season.

The secret with them is to book 6 months in advance - then you will get their best fares ...

Get on their mailing list - or start checking their website from November onwards

Hope this helps ...

Steve

No, I'll tell you the way it works. You have to book in advance, just when they begin to sell the tickets for your month. I suppose it will be January or February. Then they are cheap. As they begin to sell and there are less tickets the price rises.
As an example, I bought my tickets on May to fly to London now, I had them for 150 euros return per person, if I had bought them before..they had been cheaper.

so it looks as if they put the schedule up about 8 months in advance.
it seems as if there are four flights/day during the summer months. down to 3 flights in winter/spring.
is it always cheaper to fly midweek as opposed to the weekend?
thanks..ruth

It seems outbound travel from London is more expensive on Thursday and particularly Friday. Similarly it's generally more expensive to return to London on Sunday and Monday. This is presumably due to higher demand from people doing weekend city-trips on these days.

I disagree slightly with Steve about the lack of high season. Whilst I agree it's not like other airlines, their starting prices are generally higher in the summer than the winter to places like Barcelona.

Whatever the cost, it'll be better than taking a train all the way down.
If the Barcelona flights from Gatwick are costly then look around at other London or UK airports like Luton or Stansted.
Don't ignore British Airways completely as they may be competitive. We booked early for Gatwick to Marseilles for travel last summer and got flights for £69 return with BA. This provided us with reserved seats, on-line check in and a deli meal on the way (which I hear that BA are discontinuing short haul). I know they fly to Barcelona as well.
If all else fails, check out flights to places like Perpignan and take a train from there - but only as a last resort.
