Duck Duck Duck in Sarlat

We'll be staying in a vacation rental just outside Sarlat for 7 nights. We are not crazy about Duck or Foie Gras, can anyone recommend some restaurants for dinner in Sarlat or nearby that have a little more varied menu, including vegetarian for my sister-in-law?

We had several great meals here. I am sure they would accommodate your SIL.

Any restaurant anywhere in or near Sarlat will have choices other than duck. We do eat a varied menu here, though it's true there's lots of fowl in many and varied forms. Almost any restaurant will have salads and other offerings that are vegetarian, though not in profusion.

Can I have your duck confit and foie gras?

If your sister-in-law will throw in a salade des gesiers, I'll give mher my entire lifetime supply of beets, Swiss chard, and rutabagas.

We are in Sarlat right now, and a few minutes walk from our rental on rue des Cordeliers are both a good fish restaurant (recommended by rental owner) and a cheese shop offering meals that get rave reviews. You can look them up I'm sure. Have not tried yet.

Last night dinner L'Octroi (sp) and Himself had monkfish.

L’Instant Delice was our favorite restaurant in Sarlat. " I had the 13.90€ dinner that started with a walnut salad. What made this place so special was the next dish, a selection of fresh raviolis (smoked salmon, gorgonzola, mushroom, truffle, goat cheese along with tomato and basil). They were scrumptious, and so was the chocolate cake for dessert."

Also enjoyed Bistro l’Octroi. If they have the Baked Alaska for dessert, try it. Chapters Three through Seven chronicle our days in the Sarlat area (with photos). Have a wonderful trip.
