Dublin hotels up to $400 per night

Convenient location, comfortable, good breakfast.
I've been looking on TA but thought I'd check with the knowedgeable Fodorites for their opinion.
Brooks, Shelbourne, Westbury(might be too pricy) .not sure of best location to walk to most sites & good restaurants. B.Day dinner in mind.

We've been to Ireland twice before but never spent time in Dublin.

I've stayed at both the Shelbourne and the Westbury, both great locations and classically good hotels, the Shelbourne was completely rennovated a few years ago. It's much older than the Westbury with beautiful reception rooms and a great bar.

Some of the rooms in the back used to be very basic and outdated, almost like servants' rooms. I would inquire about that. OTH, from the rooms in the front you may hear the dawn chorus from the park, including a rooster, if your windows are open.

The Westbury is slightly more central, close to Trinity University but really not much difference in location.

The Shelbourne, might see Liam Neeson there.

I stay in apartments in Dublin or Buswells but that is not very fancy, just old and quaint in a great location.

We have found, and used a few times, one of the better "deals" in Dublin...should still be around $250....large rooms and good bkfst. Location? Great. Sits on the edge of St. Stephens Green, Grafton Street, Trinity College etc.
Some rooms have calming views of a park. The stroll through the Green is beautiful.

TPAYT..I've followed your threads and comments over the years. My guess is that you would find Staunton's a comfrtable lodging without going to $400 or more.

Stayed at the Westbury twice and love the location - easy walking distance to tons of things to see and do. Also service was excellent.

We got it for corporate deals twice so prices were good - not sure it will go for $400 - but IMHO worth it.

Have been to Dublin two other times but it was for business so not downtown. Once stayed at Berkley which was great and Jury's which was a dump with dreadful food - although it seemed to get tons of events (perhaps.due to cheap prices).

Number 31. A lovely boutique hotel in a Georgian house. Very comfortable, beautiful home made breakfast, not far to walk into the centre, a couple of very good restaurants nearby.
I highly recommend.

We stayed at the Spencer Hotel for the first night of our trip to Ireland two weeks ago - and wish we had stayed there for the last night as well.

We had a very modern spacious room - I think it was 225euros.

I started this thread and then we went in a totally different direction.

Booked 5 nights in Paris (12th time, can't resist)
And 5 nights in Vienna (1st time, looking forward to it)

I will definitely keep notes on Staunton's and Number 31 as I'm sure we will return to Ireland in the future.
