I presume this is hotel in Killiney? I thought it was closed for refurbishment. However, if it has re-opened, yes, it has gorgeous views over the sea. It's not actually ON the beach but is just set a bit back from it up a hill. I've only ever had afternoon tea in the hotel so I can't comment on the rooms, but the hotel did look nice (now this was quite a few years ago!). The hotel is in a good location to get to the city - it's on the DART line (only a short walk from the hotel), and you will get to the city centre in about 25 minutes. The only thing is - the DART doesn't operate at weekends at the moment due to line upgrading. I'll see if I can find out more about the refurbishment for you.

Sorry - my mistake. I was mixing it up with the Killiney Court hotel which is by the sea. The Fitzpatrick Castle is up on a hill and is a fair distance from the beach, however it does have fantastic views. I was at a wedding in the hotel last summer and it is a gorgeous hotel. Those at the wedding that were staying in the hotel gave the rooms the thumbs up!

Its confiudsing the two hotels the other I thought was being knocked down. I have done some conference events here in the past and it was great. We popped by for a drink a few months ago and it seems it was refurbished and lovely. It's not a quick trip into Dublin though but a nice relaxing residential area

I would choose the Fitzwilliam. It's in a fantastic location. Killiney is a lovely village - but is very residential, and you will need to travel every day to get to the city. With the Fitzwilliam everything is on your doorstep.

I secvond the Fitxwilliam in Town. You are in the heart of the city at an excellent location. The restaurants are good(Thorntons took over from the former Peacock Alley I think it has a michelin star) and Citron in the mezzanine. It's one of my places that my partner and I go to for a few drinks when we want to avoid the madness of the pubs in town. The cocktails are pricey but the best in town.
