HELLO, I AM PLANNING A TRIP TO IRELAND FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS END OF AUGUST, BEGINNING OF SEPT 2012. I HAVE READ MULTIPLE SUGGESTIONS ABOUT FLYING INTO SHANNON INSTEAD OF DUBLIN, UNFORTUNATELY THERE ARE NO DIRECT FLIGHTS FROM TORONTO, ONTARIO. THE LAY OVERS CHANGE A POSS 6 HOUR FLIGHT INTO A 14 HOUR 2 STOP MARATHON. GIVEN THAT I HAVE TO FLY INTO DUBLIN HOW DO I GET OUT!! IT LOOKS LIKE THE AIRPORT IS OUT OF TOWN BUT THE TRAIN STATION IS DOWNTOWN. I WAS THINKING OF TAKING THE TRAIN TO BELFAST THEN RENTING A CAR THERE BUT PERHAPS I SHOULD RENT THE CAR IN DUBLIN AND DRIVE TO NI. IF I SKIPPED NI AND WENT RIGHT TO GALWAY DO I HAVE TO GO DOWNTOWN TO CATCH A TRAIN? MAC

TURN OFF YOUR CAPS.
As for getting to the train station - just follow the instructions on the Dublin Airport website
http://www.dublinairport.com/gns/to-from-the-airport/by-rail.aspx
Check the bus/coach connections via DUB's website.
Direct buses to Belfast or Galway will be easier, often faster, and usually cheaper than a trek downtown to catch a train.
