Dropping my rental car at Fiumicino Airport

I will return my car to Fiumicino Airport and my flight leaves from terminal 3.

I was told that Hertz is located in Building E, However when I found a map of the airport the rental cars didn't look like they were in Building E. So confused where to drop the vehicle.

Tried checking the airport map to figure out how much time i will need to drop off car and get to my check in counter. And if there is a shuttle or just walking. Does anyone have the experience to advise me on this?

Also I plan to to to Capri, August 22 from Naples. Should I reserve my Ferry ticket in advance? Or purchase when I arrive at the terminal?

Thanks everyone!

I have never rented from Hertz, but it has always been located in Comfort Car Park Building C. If that has changed, I'm not aware of it.

The Hertz drop off is in the Arrival Comfort Parking Lot on Level 1 . Just look for the PARKING sign (P) & drive up the ramp to level 1. Very easy and there are signs saying Hertz. You can walk to the terminals.

There is some ferry info here, they suggest advance reservations in August. There are two ports of departure so you'll need to know which one you're leaving from:

We rented from Avis at Fuimicino which looks to be very closely located to Hertz rental parking. I recall that, unlike some places, the car rental drop off locations were properly signposted as you went into the airport and we had no trouble finding it. You go around a kind of circular interior road within the airport and all the different blocks are very clearly marked with huge letters on the outside [worth having a quick look at this road on google street view to get a feel for where block E is]. It was then just up a lift and a walk through to the terminal not a bus or anything, Good luck!

No need to buy your ferry ticket ahead. There are many ferry options. Are you staying on Capri or is this a day trip? There was a much shorter line for the funicular aeound noon when we were there.

Years ago we tried to return a car and had no idea where to go, presumed there would be signs on approach but there weren't (maybe now?) it was in the multi storey car park, would never have thought of that one! When we finally got into the car park there were signs... finally!

I see on this Hertz page the instructions for Gold customers to go to Level 1 in Building E:
https://www.hertz.com/rentacar/locat...ly/rome/FCOT50

It does not say where non-Gold customers go. I'm not a Hertz customer, so I don't know their marketing terms. If certain rentals cars are now located in Building E, then I would assume that change took place in the last four years. The Google Maps image is dated 2012. There is no signage indicating any rental cars in Building E as of that date.

Since it sounds like you're not picking the car up at Fiumicino, I would contact the Hertz airport location and confirm their garage location for return. I always allow an additional hour to return a car at an unfamiliar airport.

I just happened to be shopping for a car at FCO for an upcoming trip to Rome, and I received a targeted pop-up ad for Hertz. After punching in all my data on Hertz's homepage and selecting a car, I got a pop-up window that said this:

"Gold customers: Please proceed to the Gold cabin on the 1st level of the car park in building E. Returns: Please proceed to the Rent a Car Parking. The return area is on the 1st level of building E."

Apparently, Hertz has a fairly new garage location in building E at FCO. I would still call to verify and clarify. I'm not a Gold customer, but I still received this message.
