Drop off car in Perugia or Orvieto?

I am planning on staying at the Locanda Dell'Amorosa in September for 2 nights and then move on south to either Orvieto for a night or Perugia and drop off our rental car before taking the train to Rome. Which town would you choose and any ideas for accommodations? thank you!

Not sure I understand your question. Are you asking which town is better to visit or which is easier to take the train to Rome from? Anyway, I think Orvieto would probably be the answer to both. Orvieto is smaller and I thought more interesting - although I like Perugia alot also. But if I had to pick one it would be Orvieto, especially is you only have one day. The train from there to Rome is very easy and quick (just over an hour).

Second for Orvieto. Liked Perugia as well, but Orvieto has my heart. You drop off the car at the foot of the hill, outside the walls of the old city, and then take the funicular up the hill. Our rental agency dropped us off back at our hotel in the old city.

Orvieto is easier to drive around than Perugia and as others have stated, is the easier connection to Rome. We stayed at the Hotel La Badia, just outside Orvieto with a great view of the town. It is a converted Abbey with pool and excellent restaurant.

Thank you ! I will now change to Orvieto as so many people like this better. Do you think I should make it 2 nights in Tuscany and then drive to Orvieto, spend the night and then go to Rome by train, or just stay at Locanda Dell' Amorosa one more night and then drive directly to Orvieto and drop off the car? Thank you so much for your insight! It is invaluable...
