gusto, I took a look at several websites and did not see any age limit for driving in Switzerland. If you encouter a limit, I would guess that it would be impossed by the rental co, I have heard that several co's do have an age limit on rentals.

Gusto,
I think you mean a maximum age limit? I'm familiar with minimum age limits as I'm taking some young adults over next summer, quite alot of them and need some of them to be able to drive. I found Autoeurope says min is 20, I assume thats imposed by whatever car rental company they use in Switzerland. Age 20 to 23 or 25 or so are also limited to certain car classes, I haven't checked further into that but assume they are probably restricted to ecomony class. Best thing I can suggest is to contact the different car rental companies and inquire, it may vary from company to company. I do know if you are traveling for 17+ days then the buy back (lease) program with Peugeot not only is more cost effective but there is no maximum age limit, minimum age is 18.

Scheraulei,
That isn't exactly very helful information. Sounds like a blanket statement. It varies depending on the car rental company. As far as I know the age to drive in Switzerland for residents is 18, so therefore any rental car company can let 18 year olds drive if they so choose. You must always check directly with the individual car rental companies.

Yes, the restriction is imposed by the rental companies. When my son was being squired around the country picking out his first employer, the prospective employers would pay for everything, including a rental car, but he couldn't rent a car because he was too young, even though he had a valid license.
