Driving scenic routes Amsterdam to Zurich

Late October, I will be driving Amsterdam via Enschende, Mainz to Zurich. Can anyone make recommendations for the most scenic route to follow and places to stay in above named destinations? Many thanks - Hayden

Is there a reason for going to Enschede? It is not the logical route to take for Zurich.

How long do you have to get from A to Z? Are you alone? How long do you want to drive every day?

Without waiting for your answer to hetismij reasonable questions, here is one suggestion. It would take you at least 2 days.

Enschede to Koblenz, on any of the various possible combinations of autobahns through the Rheinland industrial area, starting in Gronau with the A-31.

From Koblenz, either drive along the Mosel river to Trier. Or drive along the Rhein river to St. Goar, and switch over to the Autobahn A- 61, south to the exit near Speyer. Stay in Speyer overnight.

If you are going to Trier, stay ovcernight there, then take the A-1 to the A-62, to the A-6 going east, until you also intersect with the A-61, south.

Take the A-61 to the A-5 and continue on the A-5 to the Rastatt exit (Outside of Baden-Baden.

From there, head over to the Bundestrasse 462, the Black Forest Valley road (Schwarzwald Thaelerstrasse). Take it at least to Freudenstadt. After F. depending on your time, take any of the cross roads that take you back to the A-5. Take it south to Basel and on to Zuerich.

If you take the Mosel - Trier and south route, you might also want to spend the night in Speyer or in Baden- Baden.

Reply to first comments... We have three days to go Enschede to Zurich where we see friends, also Zurich. After Zurich, we have about 9 days to drive to Rome and again, the question is which is the most scenic route through CH and into Italy?
Re the suggestions from Treplow, I'll study the map and thank you for the suggestions.
Hayden.

Thanks for the reply Hayden.
Treplow makes some excellent suggestions. Three days gives you enough time to explore along the way.
9 days to get to Rome is a lot - you can explore Switzerland and northern Italy at a restful pace. I would consult the map and see what along the way appeals to you most and work out how doable it is.
The whole trip is the sort of thing the average Dutchman would do in two or three days. Some would do it in just one!
