Driving Napflio/Mystras and Mystras/Olympia AND Private Guides

We are putting the final touches on our Greece itinerary (after getting some great advice here - thank you!) and I have two questions:

1) What are the best scenic routes to take from Napflio to Mystras and Mystras to Olympia?

It looks like the best way to get from Napflio to Mystras is like this:
Napflio ⇒ Leonidio ⇒ Kosmas ⇒ Geraki ⇒ Goritsa ⇒ Mystras

and the best way to get from Mystras to Olympia is like this:
Mystras ⇒ Kalamata ⇒ Megalopoli ⇒ Karitena ⇒ Olympia

Does that make sense?

2) We will be seeing a number of archaeological sites (Corinth, Olympia, Delphi, etc). Not sure if we would need a guide for any/all such sites. We usually explore on our own, but maybe these kinds of ruins aren't as fun to look at without someone explaining what's what? And if we wanted to get a guide, would we need to arrange one ahead of time, or are there guided tours/private guides we could get on the spot once we arrive?

Thank you!!
