Driving from Mostar to Dubrovnik Airport

Hello,

I have a flight leaving Dubrovnik Airport at 4:30pm, and will be flying carry-on only. The prior night I'll be sleeping in Mostar.

Wondering:
1 - How long is the best route between Mostar and Dubrovnik? Google says 2:40 via Trebinje: https://goo.gl/maps/0GUjl

2 - How much extra time should I budget for the border?

Thanks!

I wold NOT trust google map's timing for this part of the world -- try viamichelin and mappy. My recommendation is to take the LONGEST of the 3 times and then add a bit for road delays, stops for gas, the unexpected.... Also, try to determine whether the mapping service is using AVERAGE time or CURRENT time where YOU are or the time when you would actually be on the road. Sorry, but I can't comment on the time required for the border.

I take it you must drive? I'm sure you know there are buses from Mostar to Dubrovnik. The busses take a more scenic route that I was REALLY glad that I had the opportunity to see -- and to sit back and enjoy every moment without having to pay attention to the "distracting" road. But maybe that just simply doesn't work for you.... Just a thought!

Thanks for the advice KJA.

I really wish I could take the bus (and the famous train ride to Sarajevo), but I couldn't find a schedule that would work for my departure

I can't remember how long of took us to drive from Mostar to Dubrovnik -but I do remember that the border takes 10 mins at most - BiH side looks at documents , then the Croatians look again.

I can't remember the exact time for this trip, partly because we stopped on the way in Stolac to see the Radmlja Necropolis.

You should be aware that there are still lots of land mines along the side of road on this route Mostar-Trebinje and you should be careful about this. See my trip report from 2010.

(I am not sure which route is described as the one taken by buses, but IMO the Mostar to Trebinje route is a very scenic inland route. I assume that you would see more of the Dalmation Coast, which is stunning, if you took the route that goes to Ploce then south along the coast)
