I'm planning a trip and will be driving from Gothenburg and finishing in Brussels in the end of July. My initial plan was to do Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Brugge, and Brussels. However, it seems like there a ton of great day trips and there's only so much time! I'm looking for input on what the must sees are!
My boyfriend and I are looking to experience Europe (he's never been) but still maintain a pretty relaxing vacation. We're looking for very picturesque drives. Possibly a combination of cities and small towns might be nice. Has anyone else done this drive and have recommendations? How is driving in these cities? Would you recommend park and rides or public transport?
Also, what parts of these cities would you stay in/do you have recommended hotels? We're looking for hotels with private bathrooms around the $150/night or less price point.
I'm in the early stages of planning so I've got a lot to decide on! Looking forward to your input!

Personally, I would be less ambitious and spend:
2nights Göteborg (are you flying in from somewhere and will recover from jetlag?)
3 hour drive to Copenhagen
2 nights Copenhagen
4 nights Germany (1 night Hamburg/1 night XX/2 nights in the Mosel valley)
3 nights Amsterdam
That would mean skipping Belgium altogether.
In Göteborg stay somewhere central. The city is small and easy to walk the main parts. . If you choose to stay by the train station you will be ok as there are a lot of hotels. Try using Kayak or Expedia and start a hotel search by price to see what is available.
