Looking for suggestions on the best driving route to Baqueira: safe roads, wide roads. Google Maps gives 3 options and I'm not sure which one is best. Any input from anyone familiar with the route would be helpful.

I know the route through Lérida and it gives you the most miles on highway

Be very careful with speed traps when you approach the toll booths.. and also when you are approaching towns or on the bypass roads around Lérida. Pay attention to the LOW speeds they have all over Spain when approaching towns.. 50km/hour ( aprox 30mph)
Thanks for the information, lincasanova.
lincasanova - the route you listed via the site is not through Lerida. Is that correct?
I know the site THROUGH ( bordering) Lérida. I use www.viamichelin.com
if you put "fastest route" that one will come up.
Oops.. I see I copied the wrong one. SO SORRY. I had both screens open and messed up.

The only "problem" are SOME of the catalanes who are very familiar with the road once it is not a highway. They will pass you no matter what and fly by creating a bit of concern and tension usually in our car, thinking we're going to see one of them plastered against a guardrail around the next curve.
Just go your own pace and let them go ..
When are you going and where will you be staying? There are some great rustic restaurants up there. The little villages surrounding the ski area all the way down towards Viella are really nice on either side of the road.
We fly into Barcelona and are driving directly to Baqueira on 25 Dec. We are staying in Baqueira Ruda at a hotel called Val de Neu.
Thanks again for your help.
Have fun!!
Any suggestions as to a good restaurant on the way?
Ziad, you might try putting up a new post. It will get better results.
