Hi Angtek,

I too will likely be driving from
either Athens or Marathon to Meteora
but in May.

Check viamichelin.com... it's a great site for trip planning and driving times. You are looking at about 6 hours... 12 hours or more on the road wouldn't leave much time there so it should be at least an overnight trip.

Greek roads are generally in good repair but be aware drivers are probably faster than you'd be used to in Singapore. It is de riguer to
get at least partially onto the shoulder of the road to allow others to pass. A good part of the distance will be on the National Road (E75) so you shouldn't have any problems.

Just remember... keep right!

Thank a lot
I have checkup the viamichelin.com for the route to meteora. There 2 route to take E65 (Lamia) or E75 then to Trikala. My Nokia N95 map planner show me to take E75 & reached KALAMPAKA (from Marathon)at 5 hrs 50 min but if I use viamichelin.com it ask me to take E65 & reached desination in 7 hrs.
Which is the best route ? Pls advice

It's been 36 years since I last
made that drive so I can't say for
sure. I would bet that the e75 route
would be easier as it is on the National Road...

Take the National Road. Be aware that one section of the road near Lamia is under construction and restricted to one lane. This is not a problam except on holiday weekends. You should plan on arriving in Kalambaka in the afternoon and visiting the monasteries the next morning. Many are open only until the early afternoon.

I am staying Kalambaka in the evening and visiting the monasteries the next morning on Wed
11th June, I am not sure whether all monasteries are open, but refering to the web site http://www.kalampaka.com/en/meteora/monasteries.asp
Since the month of June is consider summer, all monasteries should be open on wed, it that true???
