Drive or train to Heathrow from Southampton

We have to get our sister from Lymington to Heathrow airport. I tried mapqest but didn't know what area we needed to drop her off. What motorways do we take from M3 to the airport.

Would it be easier for us all if she took the train from Southampton to London (which station) and then the Heathrow Express?

I thought it would be nice to drive her and then we could site see on the way back and the trip wouldn't be a total waste. What are some things to see.

Hi, again, Marge - The route to LHR is pretty straightforward. M3 to M25 (I know, I know - I told you it is really congested, but you would only be going a very short distance - 3 exits - on the M25) to the M4 one exit to the LHR approach road.

If she decides to take the train, she would not go into London. She would get off at Woking and take the Railair Link bus that leaves from the Woking train station to Heathrow.

Ron or anyone: Have an idea how long it would take for the train to Woking and then the bus to LHR?

Janis: AND how much time to plan if we drive her? She needs to be at the airport no later then 10 a.m.

Marge, its about a 2h30m to 3h (depending on connexions) journey by train and bus from Lymington Pier to Heathrow. There are two trains a day Monday thru Saturday that would make your 10am arrival target, but NONE on Sunday. See www.Qjump.co.uk for schedules and fares.

the train works - but if you want to drive her and do some sightseeing along the way back (but with your limited time in Lymington you might want to stay closer to home) it is about 120 miles. count on 2 1/2 hours.
