Dolomites Sept 2017 express bus schedules
Hi,
We are a group of 7 that will be traveling around the Dolomites for the first two weeks in September. Four guys will be hiking and three women will be in a rental car, meeting up with the guys at various predetermined locations. We are planning to travel from Cortina to Venice on September 15. The women will drive and will return the rental car in Venice. The guys will travel from Cortina to Venice in some combination of bus and train.
I am trying to figure out whether either of the two express bus services will be running on September 15, a Friday, and generally, what that schedule might be. The Cortina Express summer schedule posted on their website ends on 9/12; I sent an email asking what the schedule for 9/15 might be, but have not received a response. The ATVO online schedule doesn't go to 9/15 either.
We don't need a specific time at this point, but I'm trying to get a general idea of whether either of these buses might run on that day (Friday, 9/15), and if so, how many times per day and the general time of day it might leave Cortina.
If anyone has any recent experience with or knowledge of the express bus service after the summer schedule ends, I would love to hear from you. My husband and I are breaking off from the group when we get to Venice, and we are trying to figure out if we will have any travel time left that day to make it to Rome on the fast train. I think we will, but i'd feel better with some confirmation before we purchase airfare home from Rome. (Yes--we'd rather spend our last day in Rome than Venice, even at the price of four hours on the train!)
Thanks in advance for your response!

This ATVO timetable runs through the end of 2017.

I went through the steps on atvo.it to buy tickets for Sept. 15th, and I got as far as selecting seats for the bus noted on the timetable (link above) departing Cortina at 3:30p, arriving at the Venice Mestre train station at 6:00p. There are two fast trains leaving Mestre for Rome after 6:00p that day, one at 6:37p and the other at 7:37p. I probably wouldn't buy the train tickets in advance in case the bus is a few minutes late.

Thank you, Jean! I tried that yesterday and the schedule I was seeing didn't go through 12/31. I searched for tickets on that day but received no result. I must have input something incorrectly. I'll go back and take another look.
We may do better as far as getting to Rome to take the regular bus and slow train to Mestre. I hate that we're just missing the cutoff for the summer schedule when more express buses run.

Jean, my apologies! I did see that schedule yesterday, but I received no response when I tried, as you did, to actually start a ticket purchase for our date. It worked fine just now, so I'm putting it down to a computer that was tired and needed a rest. Thanks again for your help.

Hey, it's an Italian website. Don't be so quick to blame your computer...
"We may do better as far as getting to Rome to take the regular bus and slow train to Mestre."
I'm not sure what you mean about the "slow train to Mestre." Will you already be in Venice? Mestre is a pretty quick 10-minute ride from the main Venice train station. If you wouldn't already be in Venice, were you planning to stay with the car all the way to drop-off? Because you could be dropped off at the Mestre station before reaching Venice. If the car is being returned at the airport, you could take the Mestre express shuttle bus (less than 20 minutes).
Enjoy the Dolomites! The scenery will knock your socks off.

Hi Jean, we are traveling from Cortina to Mestre, taking fast train to Rome from there. I was trying to be sure we could get from Cortina to Rome in one day, otherwise not worth going. But we bought airfare last night so we are locked into getting to Rome one way or another! I think we can do it, just may not be able to get an express bus from Cortina to Mestre. Thanks again for your help.
